Father Michael O’Brien Appointed Patron-in-Chief of Brighter Assistance
We are honoured and deeply humbled to announce that Father Michael O’Brien, Head Priest of St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Toowoomba, and longtime spiritual guide to our project architect, David Matthew Collinson, has accepted appointment as Patron-in-Chief of Brighter Assistance.
Father O’Brien has played an instrumental role in shaping the founding values of Brighter Assistance. His steadfast devotion to truth, humility, and justice for the vulnerable has served as a spiritual compass throughout the development of our organisation. More than just a pastoral figure, he has been a tireless advocate for the disabled, the overlooked, and the underserved—those too often forgotten in the rush of progress and systems.
His appointment as Patron-in-Chief is more than ceremonial. It is a formal recognition of the guiding light his influence has offered to the team behind Brighter Assistance. Our mission to revolutionise disability support in Australia—to return dignity, choice, and trusted relationships to the heart of care—was born from a deep belief in service, love, and honour. Father Michael’s presence affirms that belief.
When we care for the least among us, we honour the Lord. It is not charity; it is justice.

Brighter Assistance is proud to be a company founded on conviction. We are not merely building systems—we are building a future where faith, ethics, and empowerment walk hand in hand. With Father Michael as Patron-in-Chief, we reaffirm that our work is guided by conscience as much as by strategy.
From the heart of Toowoomba to the towns and cities of Australia, we will carry this vision forward—with humility, courage, and faith.
